The XXVI International Ethnic Culture Camp-School“TRADITION” (Palanga, Lithuania)

From August 9 to 16, 2026 the XXVI International Summer School of Ethnic Culture “TRADITION” will take place in Palanga, Lithuania. The event also includes masterclasses and professional development courses for teachers working in the field of traditional folk culture.

For more than twenty-six years, “TRADITION” has been a meeting place for children, young people, teachers, folklore ensembles and all those who cherish living folk culture. It is a week filled with songs, dances, creativity, sea breeze and sincere human connection.


Program highlights

Participants will take part in daily theoretical and practical workshops led by renowned teachers from Lithuania, Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Poland and other countries. The program includes:

  • Traditional folk singing

  • Folk dance and choreography

  • Decorative and applied folk art (production of folk costume elements, belt weaving, embroidery, traditional jewelry making, fabric printing, etc.)

  • Folk games and traditional activities


Educational events for teachers

  • Seminars on the use of folklore in education and creative development of children

  • Round table discussion: “Traditional Folk Culture and Children: Methods and Educational Approaches”

  • Professional exchange of teaching practices and methodologies


Cultural and leisure program

  • Folk dance evenings and traditional games by the sea

  • Concert of folklore ensembles in Palanga Botanical Park

  • Video presentations of folklore expeditions and documentary films

  • Cultural program and creative evenings

  • Closing ceremony of the Summer School and a concert by the participants of “TRADITION” at the Palanga Kurhaus Concert Hall


Throughout the week, participants are gently guided into the world of traditional culture through experience, creativity and shared moments. The program is carefully designed for different age groups, combining meaningful learning with joyful summer rest by the sea.


General information

Teachers will receive certificates of advanced professional training (64 academic hours).Participants will be awarded with diplomas.

The organizers offer participation:

  • in the educational program only or

  • with accommodation (2–4 bed rooms, all amenities, approx. 15-minute walk to the sea) and three meals per day
