As part of the 26th International Summer Creative School “TRADICIJA” (2026), participants gathered for a follow-up roundtable on “Preserving and Revitalizing Traditional Culture: Youth Initiatives.” This year’s meeting saw a broader representation of ethnic minorities and a stronger focus on hands-on experience gained through youth-led cultural projects. The discussion brought together young performers, folklore ensemble leaders, researchers, educators, and cultural specialists. Beyond exploring core principles of preservation, the panel examined how youth-led initiatives are actively reshaping how traditional culture is shared in today's society.

The panel explored several key themes, including the integration of traditional culture into non-formal education, youth-led initiatives as new channels for passing down heritage, and the role of digital and audiovisual tools in reaching wider audiences. Participants also examined effective models of cooperation between cultural institutions and youth organizations. Throughout the conversation, speakers emphasized that youth projects are doing more than just preserving traditions—they are actively breathing new life into them. Modern technology, in particular, was highlighted as a key driver in making traditional culture engaging for both local communities and global audiences.

The session concluded with a commitment to expand collaborative projects that directly involve young people in documenting, interpreting, and promoting cultural heritage. Ultimately, participants shared a strong conviction that lasting partnerships between educators, specialists, and youth are essential to keeping traditional values vibrant and relevant today.

The event organizer - the School of Ethnic Culture (Lithuanian Center for Folklore and Ethnography of National Minorities) - extends its sincere gratitude to its sponsors and partners: the Lithuanian Council for Culture, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, and the Department of National Minorities under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania for their continued support and vital partnership.
